Charlotte, NC – Jet Logistics Inc., a NC-based Department of Defense/CARB-approved FAA Air Carrier, was recently announced as a member of a select group of fixed-wing, STOL and rotorcraft operators awarded the DoD’s U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) WASP-135 contract award: an IDIQ contract for domestic and international airlift services valued at up to $5.7B USD.
“Jet Logistics has proudly supported USTRANSCOM for nearly a decade now to serve and support the men and women of the Department of Defense and our military branches,” stated JLI Group Founder and President W. Ashley Smith, Jr. “The DoD’s new FAR-135 program advances the agency’s flexibility in identifying/procuring the best contractor resources to compliment the agency’s own global resources. We look forward to opportunities to perform a variety of task orders utilizing our unique fixed-wing capabilities for air medical, transport and other specialized missions.”
The WASP-135 umbrella contract was awarded after a lengthy contracting process following DoD announcements in the past 24 months of the agency’s intention to consolidate requirements for its FAR-135 contract vehicles within various AORs (Area of Responsibility) to “create greater efficiencies and flexibilities required to meet future demands around the world.” Jet Logistics received initial Commercial Airlift Review Board (CARB) approval, an independent auditing program for the Department of Defense, in 2012 and has continuously serviced the DoD including USTRANSCOM since then including but not limited to air medical transport.
Senior Director of Business Development Eric Giangiordano commented, “Benchmark government contracting awards like this from the DoD demonstrate to current and potential new client partners Jet Logistics’ ability to meet/exceed stringent contractual and operational needs for the most demanding government, military and commercial agencies in the world.” Giangiordano, manager of the firm’s GovOPS™ contracting, added, “Jet Logistics is well-positioned as a US flagged air carrier and registered small business with proven experience in government aviation to flexibly capture and service major CONUS and OCONUS task order and contract awards.”
